MVP Closing Audit¶
Purpose¶
This document closes the MVP / pre-event phase for Startup Day. It is not the final closure of the startup: the project continues with the same adaptive flow after the Startup Day feedback.
Acceptance checklist¶
| Area | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Target user and value proposition | Accepted | Consumer-first positioning is defined around personal food-goal coherence and waste reduction. |
| MVP software platform | Accepted | Core thin slice is demonstrable: scan, profile/consent, personalized verdict, Fridge and real product data fallback. |
| Startup Day preparation | Accepted for phase | Startup Day is the external acceptance milestone and feedback opportunity. Outcome must be captured after June 24, 2026. |
| Data integration feasibility | Accepted for MVP | Open Food Facts integration exists; producer-source validation remains a future strengthening point. |
| Consumer validation | Partial | Interviews and informal feedback exist, but the number of interviews is below the original target. |
| Brand validation | Open | Brand interviews, LOI or pilot remain next-cycle work. |
| Funding | Open | Funding applications and opportunities remain next-cycle work. |
| Budget and execution discipline | Accepted for phase | Work remained compatible with a part-time team and a low-budget validation approach. |
Post-implementation audit¶
The phase produced a stronger result than a static prototype: PackyTrace now has a demonstrable software platform and a clearer consumer-first value proposition. The main technical result is the conversion of the product idea into a managed platform project: domain analysis, backlog, sprint plan, CI, documentation, deployment and a real-first MVP flow.
The main limitation is external validation. The platform can be shown, but consumer tests, brand-side validation and funding evidence are not yet strong enough to claim full project success. This is acceptable for a phase closure, but it must drive the next cycle.
Lessons learned¶
- Too much feature ideation creates confusion; scope must be actively reduced.
- Weekly reviews work better than rigid long-range planning when the product is still changing.
- AI agents increase execution capacity, but only if architecture, contracts, documentation and CI remain under human control.
- Startup work and software work are connected but should not be managed as the same thing: the platform needs its own backlog, checks and acceptance criteria.
Go-forward decision¶
The decision is to continue the project after Startup Day, not to close it completely. The next cycle should focus on:
- real user tests on the online platform;
- more consumer interviews;
- brand interviews and at least one LOI or pilot attempt;
- funding opportunities;
- completion or conscious deferral of partial platform areas such as Shopping List and brand analytics.
